Happy Sunny Sunday

We had a great first week back at school.  It was so good to see all of their smiling faces. The children were so excited to see all of their classmates too. Both AM & PM classes are well on their way to settling back into our classroom routines.

Students enjoyed drawing their favorite things they did in their journals over the holiday.  I noticed many students favorite parts included spending time with their families, playing outside, and opening presents.  We also spent some time reviewing our letters and letter sounds.

We have also been working hard on building our numeracy skills.  We are working on subitizing (recognizing number formations at a glance) counting and representing numbers in different ways (ten frame, dice, tally marks, dominoes etc...) Dice and card games are fun ways to enhance your child's understanding of math.

A fun game to play at home with your child is called "Who has more?". This game is played with a partner.   Split a deck of cards into two piles.  Each player flips a card and the person with the higher number get to keep both cards.  Alternatively, you can also play "Who has less?"

Please remember to return the envelope that your child's report card was sent home in as soon as possible.

Just a friendly reminder to please book a conference time, for either Thursday or Friday of this week, so that we can review your child's progress together.

Thank you for your help and support.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Lai
