What a beautiful weekend we are having. I hope you were able to get outside this weekend and enjoy some time with your family.
Here are a few things we have been focusing on at school:
- We continue to practice our letter and letter sounds. Many of the students are able to recognize most of their upper case letters. So we are also working on learning all of our lower case letters as well.
- The learners have been practicing printing their names and their classmates names as well
- We are becoming keen readers, we love looking at books ! We spend the first 5 - 10 min of each day looking at books and reading. We love going to the library at school each week.
- In gym class, the learners just finished a little unit called "mission impossible" . The learners were each assigned a buddy in class, and their goal was to show cooperation by completing the challenges and obstacle course together as a team.
At home, please model for your child how to hold scissors, open/close the blades and how to hold the paper. Please also provide some one on one time and sit down with your child to help them develop their scissor skills.Below our some suggestions for scissor practice at home:
- Practice cutting play doh and straws
- Provide strips of construction paper and old cards for your child to cut up
- Ask your child to cut different shapes for you
- Using a grocery store flyer....have your child cut out pictures of food to add to your grocery list.
Thank you for your help and support.
Warm regards,
Mrs. Lai
